Getting the Most from Your Alarm System Remediation Effort
Modified By tipsinc on 5/7/2008 10:37:08 AM)

Getting the Most from Your Alarm System Remediation Effort is a presentation borne in the realization that currently available alarm management information is convoluted and potentially misleading. In the presentation, given at the 2008 ExperTune - TiPS User Conference, Alan Phipps, a corporate engineer with Eli Lilly, illustrates that the factors most often focused on in alarm management (i.e. alarm reduction) can actually be counterproductive, and that the target metrics presented in the industry can promote a false sense of safety.

Alan goes on to present a new library of metrics more focused on quality or based on the usefulness of alarms as communicated by the operating team, and stresses looking beyond the symptoms of poor alarm management to get to the root causes.
